In the wake of devastating floods, communities face immediate danger and long-term despair. The Ali Babs Foundation’s Flood Relief Project is a multi-phase, rapid-response mission dedicated to saving lives in the critical first hours and standing with families in the challenging months of rebuilding. We don’t just provide aid; we provide a lifeline.
The water rose so fast. We climbed to the roof with nothing. For two days, we had no food or water. Then an Ali Babs boat found us. They gave us water, a medical check, and this blue tarpaulin that became our first safe shelter in days. That tarpaulin was more than plastic; it was a promise that we were not forgotten.
Our approach is structured to ensure no one is left behind, from the first moment of crisis to the last step of rebuilding.
Phase 1: Emergency Response & Rescue (First 72 Hours)
Our teams work with local authorities to reach the most affected areas.
Search & Rescue: Deploying boats and trained personnel to evacuate stranded individuals.
Emergency Medical Aid: Setting up mobile medical camps for triage, treating injuries, and preventing disease.
Life-Saving Supplies: Immediate distribution of Emergency Survival Kits.
Phase 2: Immediate Relief & Shelter (First Week)
Focusing on safety and basic human needs.
Safe Shelter: Establishing temporary relief camps with tents and tarpaulins.
Sustenance: Providing daily packets of clean drinking water, ready-to-eat meals, and high-energy biscuits.
Non-Food Items: Distributing kits containing blankets, sleeping mats, mosquito nets, and hygiene supplies.
Phase 3: Stabilization & Support (Weeks 2-4)
Helping communities regain a sense of normalcy.
Water Purification: Setting up community water filters and providing water purification tablets.
Health & Hygiene: Running vaccination drives, health education workshops, and distributing Hygiene Kits (soap, toothpaste, sanitary napkins).
Child-Friendly Spaces: Creating safe areas for children to play, learn, and begin processing trauma in a supportive environment.
Phase 4: Recovery & Rehabilitation (Months Ahead)
Committing to the long-term rebuild.
Cash for Work: Employing local survivors in the clean-up and rebuilding of their own communities.
Rebuilding Homes: Providing materials and support to help families repair and reconstruct damaged houses.
Restoring Livelihoods: Replacing lost assets for farmers and small business owners (e.g., seeds, tools, small grants).
